Using Ctrl F4 to generate Texture and Mesh files does not fix this issue. When I try to add lip colour no change is seen in the preview window and the NPC ingame has a white mouth.
I am aware that this is not a new problem and I'm sure that having an NPC Follower with pasty white lips is as frustrating to others as it is to me so I'm hoping someone has found the answer.

You're creating your own mod when using the creation kit. I suggested that as a no-external-mods-used solution. Ah, in that case you will want to avoid using the CK. The NPC editor says it doesn't make changes to the original files so that is a plus, I'll go ahead and get the Creation Kit too. And will probably try it out, but if there's a better option I'd use that. Yes I want to keep the NPCs as they are, just tweak their appearace using the provided options like when you make your own character. Here are some links to help you get started.
Its in the tools section of your steam library. I want to adjust the physical appearance of a whole lot of the NPCs, what do I need to do this?
